Lindsay is the nephew of the great Emily Kame Kngwarreye. 
Born in 1942 at Ungoola he is a member of the Eastern Anmatyerre people. 

In 1975 Lindsay Bird Mpetyane and his family established their own permanent community on their traditional land close to their sacred site at Ungoola. In 1984 they moved to Mulga Bore which is a small community that pursues a semi-traditional lifestyle. As a senior Lawman he depicts many themes of men’s law in his paintings which include the stories of Perentie Lizard, Snake, Mulga Seed and Honey Ant.
His works are held in many public collections including the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Queensland Art Gallery, Powerhouse Museum Sydney and the Museum of Victoria.
