Elizabeth was born in Papunya, a well-known Aboriginal artists’ co-operative, and raised within a large family of painters including her world-renowned stepfather, artist Turkey Tolson (dec’d), and uncle Johnny Warrankula both founding members of the Papunya Tula movement.
She paints the Tingari cycle stories, which sing of the ancestor women who travelled the vast country performing ritual ceremonies to bring the land into being, symbolising storms, waterholes and rocks, and also the kangaroo and bush turkey.
